326 – Wonder If You Are Loved?

Do you ever wonder whether anyone really loves you? People live out their lives each day desiring to be loved, longing to be loved, needing love. People search in various relationships, emotional involvements, and experimental commitments trying to find some evidence that they are lovable and loved. Some people have never experienced the love of faithful parents. Indeed, some have been abused. Others have never experienced love in a fulfilling marriage. Still others are single or single-again, frightened to venture into a meaningful relationship for fear that it may prove counterfeit and leave them devastated on the pathway of many who have desired love but seem to have lost. Here is good news for anyone who wonders whether you are loved.God loves you! He wants you in His family, and He has gone to extreme lengths to prove that. Here are a few incredible teachings that demonstrate the love of God and prove that all of us can know that we are loved. John wrote for us these words, “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” (Jn. 1:12 NIV). When we choose to receive Christ into our lives by faith, God births us into His family. Then He adopts us to maturity in Christ and does what is necessary to make us more like Him.

God loved us so much that He:

– blessed us – When we have Christ in our lives by faith, we are blessed. It is through Him that we are blessed. The minute we were born into God’s family, adopted by His choice, we became participants with Christ in all that is His. We are blessed because we have Him in us and He is rich. “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ” (Eph. 1:3 NLT). Paul makes it clear that nothing has been left out. We have the mercy, the grace, the presence, the love, the fellowship, and all that we need in Christ! He is all we need! God owns everything in sight and beyond. And, that rich God has made us rich, blessing us beyond imagination. That is why Paul could tell us that we should “[Not] worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:6–7 LB). It is in Christ and through Him that we are blessed. All we need we have in Christ. It is as we get away in Him, by faith, that we learn how much we already have as ours in the “heavenlies.” Our lives are at home in heaven not on the earth. We are passing through here. We are to live out of the joy and victory that is ours because we are already seated with Christ where He is now. He is making intercession for us. We are seated with Him by faith, and it is as we accept that, by faith, that we can look at life from His vantage point and it relieves a lot of anxiety. God has indeed blessed us by His love!

– chose us – “Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes” (Eph. 1:4 NLT). God chose us! There is another incontrovertible proof that we are loved. The interesting thing is that God chose us even before the foundation of the world. Before He ever made the first man and the first woman, He chose us. How awesome! We are loved with a love that is unfathomable. It was not that we lived  good lives, were good enough to please God, and He adopted us into His family. No, He chose us before the world began. It had nothing to do with acceptability, lovableness, favoritism, good behavior, or anything we could control. It was purely by His grace. We are loved more than we can possibly imagine! God chose us!

– decided in advance for us – God not only blessed us, and chose us, He also decided in advance for us. We have already seen that He chose us before the beginning of the age. All three of these incredible elements are part of our salvation/eternal life. God blessed us so He chose us, and He decided in advance for us. “Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes” (Eph. 1:4 NLT). That is what election is all about. I like the explanation given by an African American pastor concerning election when he said, “God chose for you, the devil chose against you, and you had to cast the deciding vote.” God, foreknowing who would chose for Christ, chose us to be among the saved. God said that all who would come to Him through Christ would be saved. The key here is that God decided beforehand. God chose for us, and He preordained that, according to His purpose, we would be made more like Christ each day through the work of His Holy Spirit who lives in us by faith. We were born again into God’s family, and we are borne on to maturity through adoption. God has adopted us to a mature standing in Christ. One other incredible thought – God has made us heirs with Christ to all that is His.

There is no doubt that we are loved indescribably and irresistibly. Open the door to God’s love in your life today!
