Brilliant on the Basic of Studying the Bible

07 February 2011

Why study the Bible? God’s Word is the most important book in the world. There is no rival to it. In spite of attempts to tear it up, burn it, discredit it, render it irrelevant, there are more copies of it than of any other book in history. Billions of copies have been sold since it came into print. About 100 million a year are sold. Over 7.5 billion have been distributed in the world. The question is how many are read and studied seriously? It is not intended by God to be a magic talisman laying on the table, or a dust collector on the shelf. It is intended to be the most used book in its owner’s life. Since that is the case, let’s look for help getting started studying it. For most of us it is a matter of getting started. We make resolutions regarding it. We talk with family and friends about it, but we don’t take the time to get started. Here we want to look at ways you go about studying the Bible.

Brilliant on the basic of Decision Making

06 January 2011

Decisions! Decisions! Decisions! They are the essence of life. Each day we are faced with decisions. Should I get married? Should I remain single? Should I buy this car or that car? Should I go to college or take a job? Should I take a new job or stay in the old one? Should I invest in this stock or that? Should we try to have children now or wait? Every day we make decisions. I am often asked, “How can I be sure I am making the decision God wants me to make?” It is the continuing quest of the Christian to “know God’s will for his or her life.” Paul tried to take the mystery out of decision making for us when he wrote, (Rom. 12:1–2 NIV) Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Some things you need to know to make decisions that please God and bring you blessing:

Brilliant on the basic of Love

05 November 2010

When Jesus was getting ready to go to the cross and die for us and then rise again and depart for heaven to prepare us an eternal home, He said to His followers: (John 13:34 NIV) A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. That was a challenging command!

Brilliant on the basic of Integrity

11 October 2010

When we talk about the basics of life integrity should be high on our list. In our society it seems to have fallen from the top 25 as we would say in reference to football teams this time of the year. Moral and ethical strength are not associated with success as they once were. Most people recognize that we all have flaws, and they have begun to think flaws don’t matter and that they will not hinder them anyway. It is time to decide that while we are trying to improve our economy, we need to work on improving our integrity.

Brilliant on the basic of prayer that propels your life

03 October 2010

Do you ever wonder what your life could be if you had everything right with God and if you were praying effectively, growing in your faith, and if God were to really do all He is capable of doing through your life? Most of us, if we were honest, would have to admit that we think we are living beneath the potential that God has for us. Too often we settle for where we are rather than striving for His best for us. The mediocrity we accept in our own lives causes our prayer life to be timid and fruitless. God wants to teach us how to pray so as to propel our lives on to a higher level. How can we pray so that it propels our lives?

Brilliant on the basic of reducing the competition

16 September 2010

The Master Teacher was asked, “What is the greatest commandment of all?” He answered like this, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:30-31 NIV).'” Based on that teaching, I believe we live life on three dimensions: Upward, our relationship with God; Inward, our relationship with ourselves, and Outward, our relationship with our fellow human beings. I want to focus here on the inward dimension for just a moment. Take a moment to continue reading and discover how to reduce your competition.

“Redeemed”

The painting in my logo is by an artist named Kelly O'Neill.

If you appreciate excellence in art and are captivated by works that grip your emotions and proclaim the remarkable truths of God’s Word, you will want to know more about the very compelling art piece that is part of my ministry logo.

Kelly O’Neill is a remarkable young artist who very masterfully depicts the compassion, grace, and redeeming love of Jesus Christ in her painting, “Redeemed.” No painting has so grabbed my emotions and stirred my gratitude to Christ for His redeeming love as this one. Technically unparalleled, inspired, heart-stirring, and mind captivating are words I used upon seeing it for the first time.

Getting to know Kelly and the background of her wonderful work have served as great motivators as I launch out on a new ministry path in my own life. Kelly is also the developer of my website.

I commend her and her work to you and encourage you to visit her website www.TheArtistOfLife.com
