Personal Growth, Words to Walk By

Need Motivation in Pursuing Your Goals?

Comments Off on Need Motivation in Pursuing Your Goals? 24 February 2016

Each of us needs to be reminded to set goals, and to stick with them to completion. Goal setters must become goal keepers! Here are some Words to Walk By where your goals are concerned.

  • Keep your goals handy. They are the moorings that will keep your boat from sinking on the seas of life. “Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables” (Hab. 2:2 KJV).
  • Goals are not granted, but achieved through the grub, grime, and grit of hard work! “If you don’t work, you don’t eat” (2 Thess. 3:10 The Message).
  • Goals: Hunger for them and you’ll work toward them. “For his hunger urges him to work” (Prov. 16:26 NET).
  • Your goals should reflect the faith in you! “Better blessings…for those who believe without seeing” (Jn. 20:28–29 The Message).
  • Sharing your goals makes you accountable! “It’s better to have a partner than go it alone” (Eccl. 4:9 The Message).
  •  Seek to satisfy your set goals today! “You’ve got what it takes to finish it up, so go to it” (2 Cor. 8:11 The Message).
  •  Most goals are achieved through partnerships. “It’s better to have a partner than go it alone” (Eccl. 4:9–10 The Message).
  •  Your goal may be fine, but the route needs altering! “Form your purpose by asking for counsel” (Prov. 20:18 The Messsage).

Fresh Starts

Comments Off on Fresh Starts 31 December 2015

Do you ever wish you could make a fresh start? Jan. 1, 2016 is a great time to make it happen. Most of us allow our circumstances to dictate our responses, and we are not living on purpose. We try to make changes by changing things around us. It is easy to blame others for the failures of the past year. But, the greatest changes come from the inside not the outside of us. Only God can change your heart. The reason so many tragic things happen in this age is that God is being left out of many people’s equations. Without a change in your heart there can be no fresh start. God is a God of forgiveness and fresh starts! He said, “For I’m going to do a brand-new thing. See, I have already begun! Don’t you see it?” (Isa. 43:19 LB). Let God effect a fresh start in your life!

Three “T”s for Triumphant Living

Comments Off on Three “T”s for Triumphant Living 23 October 2014

A lot of people are willing to be mediocre. They have no ambition and no desire to improve their position in life. It’s not a matter of humility. It is a matter of indifference. It is total disinterest. It is getting by. It is slothful and sluggish. So, what does it take to shake one from a life of lethargy and into a life of achievement?

These three familiar words I have referred to in another post in a different context. They are so helpful I am returning to them here. A-1 “I’s” You Can Magnify

Comments Off on A-1 “I’s” You Can Magnify 12 September 2014

We often talk about the need to de-emphasize the “I” in our lives. It is important to learn to live for others and not just for self. We remind one another that, “There is no ‘I’ in team.” All of that is good because it keeps us from thinking we are the center of all that is happening. It reminds us that it is not all up to or for us. Jesus, our greatest Example of how to live, taught us the importance of self-sacrifice and selfless living! In the next couple of moments let me challenge you to think of…

364 – TODAY IS A BIG DAY!

Comments Off on 364 – TODAY IS A BIG DAY! 22 August 2014

A lot is made of the “Big Days” in our lives. Some people live for the “Big Days,” when they think something special is going to happen. Sometimes big things are scheduled and people get all excited and make preparations for what they believe is going to be special. We get all excited about the “Big Day” when our football team begins its season. It’s a “big deal” when we anticipate a promotion at work or  raise. We are motivated to get up and go when we think something special is going to occur or that we will see someone who is special to us. But, are we missing the bigness of each day that God gives us life?

“Redeemed”

The painting in my logo is by an artist named Kelly O'Neill.

If you appreciate excellence in art and are captivated by works that grip your emotions and proclaim the remarkable truths of God’s Word, you will want to know more about the very compelling art piece that is part of my ministry logo.

Kelly O’Neill is a remarkable young artist who very masterfully depicts the compassion, grace, and redeeming love of Jesus Christ in her painting, “Redeemed.” No painting has so grabbed my emotions and stirred my gratitude to Christ for His redeeming love as this one. Technically unparalleled, inspired, heart-stirring, and mind captivating are words I used upon seeing it for the first time.

Getting to know Kelly and the background of her wonderful work have served as great motivators as I launch out on a new ministry path in my own life. Kelly is also the developer of my website.

I commend her and her work to you and encourage you to visit her website www.TheArtistOfLife.com
