361 – The Timeliness of God’s Blessings

Comments Off on 361 – The Timeliness of God’s Blessings 01 August 2014

Do you ever feel that God’s blessings are being delayed? Sometimes we think that we have prayed a long time for something, and it begins to look to the faithless and faltering as if the blessing is never coming. We think we know God’s will about something, and we wait impatiently until the seeming delay causes us to stop asking and then all of a sudden the answer comes – the blessing is received. Let’s talk about the timeliness of God’s blessings because He is never a minute early or a moment late with them. We will look at the story of Jacob and Rachel in the Old Testament for some help understanding this.

325 – A Thanksgiving Reminder for Thanksgiving Day and Every Day

Comments Off on 325 – A Thanksgiving Reminder for Thanksgiving Day and Every Day 22 November 2013

We need to be reminded that thanksgiving is in season at every season of the year. It really is as simple as this, Thanksgiving should lead to thanks-living! Paul wrote for us a reminder in (1 Thess. 5:18 KJV) “in everything give thanks.”  We are to thank God for everything, not just the material blessings. When we are giving thanks we must thank God for all things, large and small, spiritual and material; for “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” (James 1:17 AV). Notice we are to give thanks in everything! That means be thankful even if God is testing us or has engineered some circumstances to help conform us to the image of Christ. In the good times and the had times – “give thanks.” There is nothing in your life, “for good,” that God is not involved in. Therefore, to Him belongs all the praise and thanksgiving for everything.

287 – What Is Our Risen Savior Really Like?

Comments Off on 287 – What Is Our Risen Savior Really Like? 28 March 2013

We are almost at Easter time. Good Friday is coming. Then will come Resurrection Day celebrations on Sunday. In our society today there are a lot of anti-Christian behaviors. In fact, all over the world, there are anti-Christian activities that are calculated to make us extinct. Our enemies don’t want us to have a say at all. You may feel like you have to defend God or prove He exists. That is unnecessary. The Word of God is the defense of God to a lost world. We will look here at Psalm 115. It was probably written during the time when the Jewish people left their captivity in Babylon and returned to their land. They were weak and weary. They had huge tasks: restoring the Temple, rebuilding their city, regaining their former territory. Some people felt they had other gods who were stronger than the living God. We can learn from what they were taught through this psalm. We can know what our God is really like. Our God is not only greater, but He is also the only living God.

281 – A Reusable Recipe

Comments Off on 281 – A Reusable Recipe 20 March 2013

My grandmother and mother were big on reusing old and tried recipes for meals in our home as I grew up. My grandmother was like many are. She knew the recipes by heart and would just throw in a pinch of this and a pinch of that and it was perfect every time. Because she knew the recipes she was successful in making very rewarding and tasty dishes. Most of us have times when we feel the need for spiritual renewal and revival in our relationship with God. In the Bible there is a recipe for revival that never changes. Today other methods are tried in religious gatherings everywhere: boisterous music, bright lights, dwelling on the more showy gifts, loud speech, pulpit pounding, whipping the faithful up into a frenzy, demanding a change in hearts. None of those gets past skin deep. For a deeper spiritual experience with God only one recipe works. It is a reusable one!

263 – What Does God Want?

Comments Off on 263 – What Does God Want? 22 February 2013

When we pray many of our petitions have to do with what we want. “Give us,” “Do for us,” “Bless us by,” are often repeated phrases in Christian’s prayers. We wonder why our prayers are not always answered as we ask them. How many of the requests are asked in God’s will? The key to successful praying is to be sure that we are asking from God exactly what He wants to give to us or do through us. Answerable prayer is prayer in the will of God. John said it like this, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us” (1 Jn. 5:14 NIV). If you want your prayer answered, ask it in the will of God. If you do, John said, you can have confidence that it will be heard. In order to do that you have to do three things. We will look at them here.

How much do you know about faith? We talk about it in terms of trust, belief, expectation, hope, among other things.
