71 – Choosing a Life Template

Comments Off on 71 – Choosing a Life Template 29 May 2012

Life is made up of a series of choices. Each day we make choices and those choices determine our daily and eternal destinies. That was clear in the life of Moses when the Bible says, He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time (Heb. ll:25 NIV). If you have an important choice to make you will want to keep reading!

An interesting thing about making choices is that, like Moses, we are free to choose. We can say, “Yes,” to God’s plan or we can say, “No.” God loves us enough to respect the integrity of our “No” answers to Him. He created us in His image, and in part that means that we are given a free will to choose to do what He says or not. We are responsible for our choices, and our lives are shaped by the choices we make.

If we make poor choices we will always settle for less than God’s best. He has an intentional plan for us, but we can derail that plan with our choices. God had a completed plan for you and me before He created Adam and Eve. We are not God’s afterthoughts. Each of us is unique and special created by God with a one of a kind purpose in mind. God knows the plan He has for you. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jere. 29:11 NIV).” Yet, we must choose to live out that plan or reject it for one of our own devising.

Your computer has defaults set on it that you can return to when things get crossed up because you have made some bad choices and selected the wrong options when they were offered to you. You can restore the default settings to set the system right again. In life we are free to choose, but our choices determine our happiness and our destiny. The God-given template for our lives is the measure we should always default to when we are searching for happiness. When we make bad choices and miss God’s best we are always unhappy. It may be time for you to return to the default–God’s template for your life.
