Three “T”s for Triumphant Living

A lot of people are willing to be mediocre. They have no ambition and no desire to improve their position in life. It’s not a matter of humility. It is a matter of indifference. It is total disinterest. It is getting by. It is slothful and sluggish. So, what does it take to shake one from a life of lethargy and into a life of achievement?

Three “T”s for triumphant living:

1. Turn in a good performance – You ought to want to personally turn in your best performance in all that you do. God has made each person with natural abilities, spiritual gifts, and resources that equip us to fulfill His plan for our lives. It is up to us to discern what that plan is and to dedicate ourselves to it doing it with the very best of our being. God gives to us in our youth and at key junctures along life’s way a dream and a desire and a dedication to perform well. The Bible is explicit about the fact that we cannot just get by and please God. “Work from the heart for your real Master, for God, confident that you’ll get paid in full when you come into your inheritance. Keep in mind always that the ultimate Master you’re serving is Christ. The sullen servant who does shoddy work will be held responsible. Being a follower of Jesus doesn’t cover up bad work” (Col. 3:23–25 The Message). There is no excuse for “getting by.” Turn in your best performance in every area of your life!

2. Take the challenges in stride – Will it be easy to be your best? Hardly! Life is like football, it is a contact sport. You will be challenged and hit and knocked down. There will be nay sayers and critics and pundits aplenty. Nothing is worth accomplishing that does not come with a challenge. I read, “A challenge is just an opportunity to prove your ability to yourself.” James, in the Bible says, “Anyone who meets a testing challenge head-on and manages to stick it out is mighty fortunate. For such persons loyally in love with God, the reward is life and more life” (James 1:12 The Message). Life is a series of challenges. There are no challenge-free goals worthy of your consideration. Live life! Love life! Take the challenges in stride!

3 – Try and try again – Some people try and quit. They never believed they could do it before they tried. They expected to fail, and they lived down to their expectations. The most successful people are those who try and try again. I have often quoted a friend of mine who said the answer for success is “keep on keeping on.” I have been taught that, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” That is easier said than done, but it is the only way the victory can be won! Try and try again! Jesus told the story about a determined and persistent widow that got her case heard in court because of her persistence. “Jesus told them a story showing that it was necessary for them to pray consistently and never quit” (Luke 18:1 The Message). He told that story to teach that we should never stop praying. In prayer and in life the principle is try and try again!
